Early gift giving

This is the soon to be five year old trying on his helmet because he is about to go cruising on his new bicycle.  Can you see the excitement in his eyes?

He almost couldn’t wait for Daddy to finish…

and the rest was history – he took off

This was a pretty big deal because he has been stuck using his old itty bitty baby tricycle forever.  He got really attached to it for whatever reason.  I think the most important reason was that it had a container on the back of it.  When we would go for walks, he would collect things and fill it.  He would tell me, “Mommy, this is where I put all my beautiful things”.  How could you not love it when he says ‘beautiful’ with such seriousness?  <3

He went around the block and even wiped out a couple of times.  He got a cut on his knee with blood so that warranted a band-aid.  He sat for awhile after that but then he got right back on. (Whew)

He waved to neighbors because he was important riding that bike.

Cubby wasn’t happy until he got in on the action…

Instant smile.

I have to say that when I saw Monsta get on for the first time on that big bike, I took a deep breath and said to myself, “Wow, he is really growing up”. They rode around the corner and it seemed as if my little boy was never to be seen again. Ugh, get the tissues. I cherish the moments when he still curls up in my lap and looks up at me and says, “Mommy, will I always be your baby?”. My answer is always the same….

“Yes”
